Vocal Media vs Medium
So, I’ve been using Medium and Vocal to share my writing for a while now, and I’ve definitely noticed some differences between the two platforms.
With Medium, I found it was a bit tough to get noticed at first. There are so many writers sharing their work on there, and it can be hard to stand out in such a crowded space. Plus, the paywall system can be a bit tricky — readers have to pay to access certain articles, which can be a deterrent for some.
That being said, I did manage to earn a bit of money through Medium. It wasn’t a ton — just $12 over two years — but it was something.
On the other hand, I’ve had a lot more success with Vocal. It’s a newer platform, so there’s less competition, and I’ve found it’s easier to get noticed. Plus, the fact that it’s free to use makes it more accessible to readers, which can be a plus.
So far, I’ve been able to earn $366 on Vocal in just eight months, which is pretty cool. I think the fact that they have monthly writing challenges with cash prizes is a big draw, too.
